Preparing for Orientation

We know that there's a lot of information to keep track of as you prepare for the start of your JVC year! This page is designed to keep all of those details in one place. Read on below for a quick reference to the important items you should be aware of this summer.

Orientation Location and Dates

Orientation for the 2024-25 cohort will take place at Stony Point Center in Stony Point, NY August 15 -19. For more information on your Orientation retreat site, click here. For directions, click here.

Getting to Orientation

JVs are responsible for booking their own travel to Orientation with flight travel to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Please read the details below carefully for important times. 

 

IMPORTANT: If you have not already taken the travel survey to ensure we have your travel details and sign-up for shuttle, please take the survey here.

Onboarding Tasks from Human Resources

The Human Resources Department welcomes you!  Shortly after you have been matched and sign your agreement, you will receive two messages from our payroll/HRIS company called Paylocity.  One email will include your username and JVC’s company code. The other will include your temporary password.  You have a list of 17 tasks to complete. Please check your email regularly (including junk mail) to make sure you've received these.

 

If you intend on enrolling in health benefits through JVC, please log on to Paylocity and complete your enrollment by July 9th.  Enrollments completed later than that will result in delayed processing and receipt of insurance cards.

Community Roles

There are three different community roles within each JVC intentional community, no matter its size. We invite you to consider these role(s) and their responsibilities. Please keep in mind that, in smaller communities, members may need to fulfill more than one role.

NATIONAL PROGRAM WELCOME CALL: SUNDAY, JULY 28

 

Welcome all incoming JVs! Please join us for the space to officially meet your community members, the rest of the JV 24-25 Cohort, and the Program Team Member you will be working with! 

 

Further information and a calendar invite will be coming soon. We ask that every incoming JV attend this call. If you will not be able to attend please email the Program Team at jvcprogram@jesuitvolunteers.org.

JEDI at JVC: JEDI Council Open House

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) is a vital priority at JVC as we commit to becoming an anti-racist organization. We continue to work on strengthening a foundation of inclusion, showing up together with open hearts and minds.

 

The JEDI Council is one of several JEDI spaces available to JVs to engage in conversations and collaborate on ideas and projects to advance the JEDI work. Founded by two JVs in our 2022-23 cohort year, the Council meets monthly with fellow JVs and JVC staff.
