Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) is committed to respecting the privacy and personal information of all individuals who engage with us – whether applying for employment, volunteering in our programs, or supporting our mission through donations. We strive to handle all personal data with care, security, and transparency.
This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect the personal information of job applicants, volunteer applicants, and donors.
1. Job Applicants
Information Collected:
We collect resumes, cover letters, references, and other information submitted by candidates for employment consideration.
How We Use Your Information:
- To evaluate qualifications and assess fit for current or future employment opportunities
- To schedule interviews and communicate during the hiring process
- To verify references and make employment decisions
Who Has Access:
Only JVC employees and, if appropriate, select Board members involved in the recruitment process will have access to this information. It will not be shared with third parties outside of JVC without explicit consent, unless required by law.
Retention:
Unsuccessful candidate information may be retained for future job consideration unless the candidate requests removal.
2. Volunteer Applicants (Jesuit Volunteers)
Information Collected:
We collect application forms, essays, references, interview notes, and other personal data submitted as part of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps application process.
How We Use Your Information:
- To assess your fit with JVC’s values, mission, and program requirements
- To place and support you in your volunteer role
- To provide relevant training, support, and communication throughout your service year(s)
- To remain in contact with you as a member of the Former Jesuit Volunteer (FJV) community
Who Has Access:
Your information will be accessed by JVC staff involved in the selection, placement, and support process. In limited cases, it may be shared with JVC partners (e.g., placement agencies) under strict confidentiality. It is never shared for commercial purposes.
Retention:
Application and service records may be retained as part of your participation history and to support ongoing engagement with the FJV network. You may request review or removal of your data at any time.
3. Donors
Information Collected:
We collect contact information, donation history, and communication preferences from individuals who make contributions to Jesuit Volunteer Corps.
How We Use Your Information:
- To process and acknowledge your donations
- To communicate about your impact and share updates aligned with your interests
- To invite you to events, campaigns, or opportunities to deepen your support
Who Has Access:
Only authorized JVC development staff and designated personnel responsible for donor communications will have access to donor information. Payment information is encrypted and securely stored by our payment processor. JVC staff do not have the ability to access payment information for any purposes. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with outside organizations or vendors for marketing purposes.
Retention:
We retain donor records in accordance with standard fundraising practices and applicable legal and tax requirements.
4. Data Security and Integrity
Jesuit Volunteer Corps implements appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the personal information entrusted to us. SMS consent is not shared with third parties. All data is securely stored, and access is limited to those who need it for legitimate organizational purposes. Our website may contain links to other websites. JVC is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of any third party.
5. SMS / Text Messaging Communications
Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) may use SMS (text messaging) to communicate important information related to our programs, applications, events, donations, and organizational updates. The information below includes terms of service.
