Jesuit Partners

Jesuit partners accompany our Jesuit Volunteers with spiritual guidance, embodying the Jesuit mission through presence, prayer, and support. As generous patrons and mentors, they help keep the Jesuit essence alive, infusing each service journey with reflection, purpose, and a deep commitment to faith and justice.

Igniting Justice Through Jesuit Reflection

Jesuits have a long and active history of working for social justice, rooted in their mission to serve faith and promote justice in the world. Jesuits live out their faith by being deeply engaged in the real struggles of people, especially those on the margins. They accompany communities, challenge inequality, and work to transform unjust systems. This commitment flows from their belief that love and justice go hand in hand and faith must lead to action.

Service for Jesuit Volunteers (JVs) isn’t just about what they do, it’s about who they become. Our formation curriculum is rooted in the Jesuit tradition of Ignatian Spirituality, named for the founder of the Jesuits, St. Ignatius of Loyola, and frames the service experience. It is a spirituality that invites JV’s to see the world as it truly is, to let that reality move them, and to respond with love and courage. Through retreats, intentional conversations, and supportive spiritual guidance, our Jesuit partners offer a deeper lens for JVs through which to understand their work, their relationships, and themselves.

"We don't go to the margins to make a difference; we go to the margins so that the follks there make us different" - Fr. Greg Boyle, Jesuit priest and founder of Homeboy Industries
